Actress Brenda Wehle furnishes her garden like a savy fashionista, not afraid of combining out-and-out bargains with the occasional splurge. (Wehle's beautifully wild garden in Sherman Oaks, California is featured in our August issue, starting on page 39.)  Most of her pots, for instance, are standard nursery terra-cotta.  Some are even garage sale finds or alley discards.

But when Wehle finds something special--an item that tugs on her heart strings--then she's willing to splurge.  The antique French army cot which she found at Inner Gardens in Los Angeles shown below is an example.  "I wasn't looking for anything like this when I walked in, but I loved the mood it created and knew if I didn't buy it, I'd always regret it," she says.  Makes a simple afternoon nap feel like a snooze in the woods, says Wehle.

I wish I had a garden big enough for a cot...does Brenda allow strangers to take naps on her cot? ;-)

Thanks for the reminder to pick up Sunset's August issue!

I'd like a nap on her cot, too. With my cat. :)

Brenda says the cot feels so cozy her sister feel asleep out there and ended up being there all night.
