Muhlenbergia capillaris 'Regal Mist' seemed to be in bloom everywhere I looked in Arizona last week -- every situation seemingly prettier than the next.  This particular example is from a Tucson, Arizona garden designed by Jason Isenberg of Urban Organics Landscaping. The rosy plumes of the Muhlenbergia are complimented perfectly by the soft gray-green of Euphorbia rigida and Artemisia 'Powis Castle.'

Cindy McNatt has another beautiful image on her Orange County Register blog.  A surprising but beautiful combination of 'Regal Mist' with pink shrub roses.  She calls the duo "cotton candy and roses."

Great minds thinks alike!

Oh, you've touched on one of my favorite combinations in my garden here in North Carolina, zone 7.

I have a companion plant recommendation for that muhly.

1-Salvia greggii 'Dark Dancer'
2-crape myrtle 'White Chocolate'
3-agastache rupestris pink/orange bloom
4-echinacea 'Ruby Star'
5-spirea 'Neon Flash'

I have color from spring until frost (although we've had several frosts and the salvia, agastache and muhly are still going strong)

That combination sounds lovely. Send us a photo if you have one.

Regal Mist grass is beautiful for the several weeks that it is in bloom in the fall. I find that where I live, the out of bloom plants are rather scraggly - less attractive than other ornamental grasses. It's a good idea to plant them with companion plants as in the photo, to give the planting more oomph during the off season.

I'm not sure how to send you a photo of the salvia and muhly combo.

Here's a link

That section of garden is only 1 year old (2007) and I added the muhly this year. It works, so I want to increase the number of plants in the grouping after some re-arranging of the neighboring plants.

Cameron, I took a look. Very pretty. It's such a versatile grass. It works with a lot of things.
