Earlier this month, I did a post on some cool retro furniture I found at DIGS, a home and garden store in Palm Springs,California.  Here's another fun idea from the same store.  It's a fire pit on casters you can roll around to wherever you happen to want to sit.  The "pit" is made of natural concrete and it can be customized to harmonize with your hardscape.  It is fueled by propane.  (It can also be plumbed for natural gas if you prefer, but then you lose the ability to roll it around which is what makes the idea so novel.)

Design and fabrication are by Dan Licausi of Modern Fire Pits for DIGS.

Fire pit: $1,095; propane tank $75; glass mulch $95.

What a cool (is that an anti-pun?) fire pit! I love it. You can cozy up to the fire without worrying about smoke and sparks damaging clothes, chair cushions, and, most importantly, lungs.

DIGS also has a variety of other equally modern fire pits, incorporating different shapes metal, stone, other style of glass etc.. All equally as stunning and chic. The concrete are the more expensive ones, but the aluminum styles are definitely a bargain. This is a wonderful store indeed!

You're right, Suzanne. I saw some metal planters there that had been converted into fire pits I thought were pretty clever and almost posted those, too. It's a pretty idea rich store.
