One of our favorite displays at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, which you can check through tomorrow at the San Mateo Event Center, is a sustainable garden showcasing lots of great ideas for greening your garden. A collaboration of San Mateo County Master Composters, Garden of Eden Landscapes, and Common Ground Organic Garden Supply and Education Center, the display features four really cool ways to contain your edibles: on berms, or in raised beds made of urbanite (recycled concrete), straw wattle, or cinder blocks. You'll also see a reclaimed wood shed, a boot-turned-birdhouse, hanging baskets of edible nasturtiums, and an old garden hose woven into a doormat.

This was one of my favorite displays too. I missed the garden hose woven door mat. What a cool idea!

The Actinomycetes, Worms, and Fungi, OH MY! garden was one of my favorites, too. http://localecologist.blogspot.com/2009/03/elements-of-sustainability-sf-garden.html
