The transformation of this side yard in Calabasas, California was performed by Shirley Bovshow, garden designer,  television host, and speaker.  She outlines all the steps and and shows a lot more details on this post on her blog, Edenmakers.  Take a look.  It may inspire you to finally tackle your own side yard.

Definitely a difference! Makes great use of property you OWN! A people walk!

Beautiful. You'd always be looking for an excuse to walk down this side yard.

Thanks for the kind words. My clients, who "never gardened before" are out every Sunday morning in their garden, weeding, deadheading and enjoying their new found Eden!

This is a great set of pictures. It really gives me ideas for dealing with narrow, "difficult" spaces. The stepping stones pull your eye along, and the arbor provides such a nice entry. Beautiful look. Thanks.

Truly beautiful! What a fantastic job Shirley did. And how wonderful that she not only transformed the side yard, but also "transformed" the owners into gardeners.

Perfect!

What a beautiful transformation of a boring side area into a handsome garden pathway and area.
This is an inspiration.
