It's July 15th, which can only mean one thing: everything is in bloom!

CIMG1322
Coreopsis, 'Red Shift'

CIMG1371
Gaura 'Snow Fountain'

CIMG1335
Sunflowers 'Red Sun'

CIMG1336
   Amaranth 'Burgundy'

CIMG1345
Basil (despite my best dead-heading efforts)

CIMG1348
Eggplant 'Lavender Touch'

And with a little more searching...
CIMG1349
A baby!

CIMG1365
Pole Beans 'Spanish Music'

CIMG1339
Lemon 'Eureka'

CIMG1355
Another variety of amaranth, 'Love-Lies-Bleeding'
(My favorite plant and favorite plant name)

CIMG1356
The Western Garden Book says that 'Love-Lies-Bleeding' is, "a curiosity, not a pretty plant..."
Lightening may strike me for disagreeing with the bible, but I think it's gorgeous.

CIMG1337
Winter squash 'Butternut'

CIMG1360
Rose 'Miss Alice'

CIMG1375
Dahlias, lots of them!

Including....
CIMG1330
Giant yellow ones of unknown variety. This size is often referred to as dinner plate.
I really don't care for them. I think they are totally freaky.

Since I garden in the Midwest, I'm not as familiar with Sunset magazine, though I hear others swear by it, especially if they live "out west". That's quite a nice display of blooms. Thanks for joining in for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

As a long time Sunset reader and a participant in GBBD since its beginning I am very excited to see you join in on the fun! I haven't seen the test garden for a couple years...it's looking lovely. And I totally agree with you on the dinner plate dahlias.

I wouldn't refer to anything as the bible except the bible.
