Green lettuces generally taste better than red ones.  Or at least that's my opinion.  So if you're going to bother growing a red one, why not choose  the most gorgeous red lettuce you can find.  Like this brand new one from Renee's Garden she's calling Sea of Red.  I don't know if I want to eat it or wear it.  Wouldn't you love to have a dress this color?

Lettuce-Sea of Red -01

Sea of Red's sword-shaped leaves, says Renee, "color up to the most amazingly deep, mahogany-red that we've seen in any lettuce variety."  The color doesn't fade in the sun either, says Rene, but actually deepens. It's a cut and come again type lettuce, so it should last quite a long time in my coastal garden.  Can't wait to start it!

We're going to grow in the test garden, too, so don't be surprised to hear more about it.

It is pretty. I think I want to paint a wall this color.

Love Renee's Garden seeds but have you seen "Flashy Trout's Back Lettuce" by Territorial Seed? Fierce and tasty!
